No excuses

I took the bus and walked a mile to get to the gym to work out yesterday. It felt good. What would have been an hour and half out of my day became four hours - but, I did it. No excuses. No complaining. Just doing.

Now, I just have to "do" for 12 more weeks. ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Joining the gym

Did you ever join a gym? Lots of high pressure? Salespeople in sweat pants that made you feel fat and worthless if you wanted to wait? Yeah. Typical of places like "Rush" or "Balli" or some of the other chain gyms.

I have only joined TWO gyms where I didn't feel that push - Gold's and the YMCA. However, I managed to find a small, locally owned place that has been owned by the same person for 30 years. Membership? $150 a YEAR. That's it. No monthly fees. No sign up fees. Just a gym that rivals Gold's and the Rush and all the major players - is clean, family owned and real. Only two showers (which is plenty) and a very low-key locker room, but the equipment is all new or very well maintained! There are 40 new cycles for spin class and a waiting line....just awesome, awesome setup. I'm going to like this a lot.

Except my car died. No way to GET to the gym. Sigh. Five miles away through rough neighborhoods. So - now I have to buy another car, or a bike and bicycle through bad neighborhoods and across two major highways to get there. Not looking good. It may be a couple of weeks before I get there.
